Rising concerns about the deteriorating condition of our immediate surroundings and its rapidly disappearing biodiversity need to be addressed with the help of eco friendly and economically viable solutions.
The menace of environmental degradation has been compounded manifold due to the alarmingly, indiscriminate use of plastic bags for the purpose of disposing household waste. Plastic bags are known to cause irreparable damage to water bodies and drainage systems by clogging them and eventually causing floods and other calamities. Fatalities among scavengers and stray animals that feed on their contents are also common place.
In an effort to reduce and restrict the hazardous effect of these bags the Relearn Foundation has devised the Green Garbage Bag (GGB). The GGB is an indigenous designed, biodegradable alternative aimed at minimizing the use of plastic garbage bags and thereby reducing its harmful consequences. The revenue earned from the sale of GGBs is used for the betterment of economically disadvantaged women and offering free education to underprivileged children.
